why do you have to be so hard to love, Bryan AdamsCollapse )

sorry i've not posted here in a while... haven't posted much of anything anywhere, to be honest... but i heard this song for the first time yesterday, and the lyrics don't really convey the "feel" of the song, but you can get a general idea...

ain't that the way
by ani difranco

i love you
and you love me
and ain't that the way
it's supposed to be?

i swing my stick legs 'round at the root
and pile drive each foot into a platform boot
and i'm up and i'm out
cuz i'm bouncing off the walls
and i come when i'm called
and you called

i got a super-cute three-piece suit
one piece for your body
one piece for your smile
one more little piece
if you stay a while

i gotta beeline double time
leave my home sweet home for your honeycomb
then i show up steady, ready and proud
and i find i've forgotten how to talk out loud

isn't it just like you
to bring me to my knees
in my brand new stockings
while the cat is out with my tongue
isn't it just like you
to bring me to my knees
in my brand new stockings
love makes me feel so dumb

1:52PM - i don't usually...

... go for political/patriotic songs, but this is much less a tribute to the army than it is to the relationships that are forever being put on hold and/or ended by war.
this song still makes me feel sick inside - i heard it for the first time while my ex was stationed in Iraq. it was on the radio and i had to pull the car over - i could not stop sobbing.

3:36PM - more country...

i posted this one in my journal a while back, but i thought it bore repeating, especially if any of you missed it...

9:50PM - hi, all!

just want to welcome those of you who have joined so far. please feel free to post lyrics any ol' time. so glad to have you here :)

i'm realizing that a lot of the ones i post/think of are going to be country. anyone have thoughts on that? is country music written by folks who have a more traditional/"old school" perception of relationships that seems to be the way many butch/femme relationships work?

all we ever find, tim mcgrawCollapse )

Current mood: contemplative

nobody's busting onto the hip-hop/r'n'b scene quite like Chris Brown... and this song makes me think of a young butch, a little nervous, but confident and polite... smooth. gotta love it.

Yo, (Excuse Me, Miss), Chris BrownCollapse )

this is one of the songs that has made me think of butch/femme from the first time i heard it - i spend my days writing scathing emails to bigwigs at large banks that invest in my company, making phone calls to attorneys and loan officers, and supervising a department in a male-dominated office in a male-dominated field. this song reminds me of the other side of me, the gentle, caring, loving side that i want to let take over when i walk out of the office.

1:57PM - Welcome!

This community is being created on a whim, while I'm at work, so bear with me while I create, modify, readjust, etc.

I'm looking forward to having a place where I can share the words that speak to my heart as a femme who loves butches, and hearing ones I either may not know yet, or may not have seen in light of the butch-femme dynamic previously. I'm going to transfer the lyrics I've posted in my own journal at some point, but in the meantime, I hope that new members will start joining left and right, all armed with the songs that move them and bring to mind the beautiful dance we share in the world of butch-femme.
